The History of Reiki

William Lee Rand

William Lee Rand received his initiation into Reiki on the big island of Hawaii in 1981 & 1982 from Bethel Phaigh who received her Master training from Mrs. Takata. In 1994-1995 he developed Karuna Reiki, and in 2014 he introduced Holy Fire Reiki. He has taught Reiki full time since 1989 in the U.S. and in countries all over the world. He is the Founder and President of The International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT), and The Reiki Membership Association (RMA), founder of the Center for Reiki Research (CRR) and is the publisher of the Reiki News Magazine.

After William was initiated into Reiki, he walked off by himself and stared at a sunbeam shining in through the window. As he was doing this, the Reiki energy spoke to him and said that Reiki is an energy that can be developed. It was because of this experience that allowed William to keep an open mind to this possibility and to also any inward guidance that he might receive about it. As new information came from Japan over time from a number of Reiki researchers, the fact that the original founders indicated that Reiki could be developed became more clearly known.

Reiki energy comes from an infinite source and because of this, regardless of how developed and evolved our energy has become, we will always be channeling only a small portion of the potential healing energy that is available. It is always possible for the quality, effectiveness and benefit of our healing energies to improve and this includes what takes place in attunements, placements and ignitions as well.
